Desde La Chekera siempre hemos admirado a diferentes proyectos, y algunos de ellos nos inspiran y nos enseñan a tratar de hacer las cosas cada vez mejor. Uno de esos proyectos es, sin duda, el del sello Eck Echo, con base en Berlín y fundado por Diego Hernández, originario de Perú.
Este sello fue creado en 2013 y, para mí, lo especial de este proyecto en particular es que se trata de crear puentes y vínculos culturales, logrando fusiones inesperadas y presentando canciones para escuchar con calma y guardar por mucho tiempo. A lo que voy es que no se trata de música de consumo rápido: Eck Echo nos presenta música de alta calidad que requiere tiempo y disposición. Esto lo aprecio mucho, porque personalmente a veces me siento abrumada por la rapidez y lo fugaz del consumo actual. Proyectos como este rompen con esa dinámica y nos invitan a tomarnos un momento para apreciar algo importante.
Por eso, para nosotros es un honor presentar el nuevo video de Ngwaka Son Systéme, una banda congolense fundada en 2022 por Love Lokombe y Bom’s Bomolo (los mismos que fundaron la mítica banda KOKOKO!).
Ngwaka Son Systéme es una banda de seis integrantes que mezcla sin miedo lo tradicional con lo moderno. Ellos fabrican sus instrumentos con objetos caseros, lo que tengan a mano y de ahí nace un sonido salvaje e impredecible. Con influencias de techno, rumba, soukous, zagué, dancehall y ese vibe “Kinoise” que no se puede explicar, solo sentir.

At La Chekera, we've always admired different projects, some of them inspire us and teach us to keep pushing to do things better. One of those projects is, without a doubt, the Berlin-based label Eck Echo, founded by Diego Hernández, originally from Peru.
The label was created in 2013, and for me, what makes this project special is its focus on building bridges and cultural connections bringing together unexpected fusions and offering songs meant to be listened to deeply and treasured over time. What I mean is, this isn’t fast-consumption music: Eck Echo brings us high-quality music that asks for time and attention. I truly appreciate that, because personally, I often feel overwhelmed by the speed and fleeting nature of how we consume things today. Projects like this break that cycle and invite us to pause and take in something meaningful.
That’s why it’s such an honor for us to present the new video from Ngwaka Son Systéme, a Congolese band founded in 2022 by Love Lokombe and Bom’s Bomolo (the same minds behind the iconic band KOKOKO!).
Ngwaka Son Systéme is a six-piece band that fearlessly blends the traditional with the modern. They craft their instruments out of household items, whatever they can find, and from that emerges a raw, unpredictable sound. Influenced by techno, rumba, soukous, zagué, dancehall, and that unmistakable “Kinoise” vibe, something you can’t quite explain, only feel.

Iboto Ngenge means “power struggle” or “seizing the opportunity” but while words can only be roughly translated, the music reaches listeners unambiguously: A potent mixture of techno, rumba, soukous, zagué and dancehall with the unique “Kinoise” brand – the city that never stops innovating in the music landscape worldwide.
