CXLI PARA LA CHEKERA RECORDS
A CXLI se les pronuncia Cali, y no es casualidad. Este dúo de hermanos colombianos, artistas, productores y DJs, lleva en su nombre un homenaje directo a su raíz: Cali, la ciudad de donde viene toda su familia.
Ellos viven en Londres y ahí empezaron su camino en la música. Hace 10 años compraron su primera laptop con la idea de aprender a producir. Con el tiempo, juntaron fuerzas y nació el sonido CXLI: una mezcla de todo lo que sonaba en casa, pue su hermano mayor era DJ y coleccionaba vinilos, desde hip hop americano y bass británico hasta la salsa de las fiestas familiares y Reggaeton.
Su estilo se mueve entre un dembow electrónico acelerado y, últimamente, la guaracha los atrapó gracias a la visión de Nico Parga, quien los inspiro con un sonido colombiano fresco y auténtico. El resultado: tracks con un trasfondo crudo, oscuro, marcado por bajos potentes, pero siempre equilibrados con melodías que reflejan la dualidad de crecer como colombianos en Londres.
Su nuevo track para La Chekera Records se llama “PANTERA”, y es justo eso: crudo, melódico, con un aire oscuro, pero con un fuerte sabor latino. Para darle vida, los CXLI se inspiraron en su sonido actual: tambores pesados, atmósferas sombrías, cumbia y vibra clubera. La melodía principal nació de un sample que re-trabajaron en un sampler, tocando en vivo para darle un twist propio, incluso revirtiéndola en partes para sumar variedad. Además, jugaron con un vocal que complementa la instrumental perfecto.
Yo los conocí en Londres, en algunos eventos, y la conexión fue inmediata: ni siquiera hizo falta hablar mucho, solo bailando sentimos la hermandad. Hoy me emociona mucho tenerlos en el sello presentando “PANTERA”.

CXLI is pronounced Cali, and that’s no coincidence. This Colombian brother duo artists, producers, and DJs, carry in their name a direct homage to their roots: Cali, the city where their whole family comes from.
They live in London, and that’s where their musical journey began. Ten years ago, they bought their first laptop with the idea of learning how to produce. Over time, they joined forces and the CXLI sound was born: a blend of everything that played at home, since their older brother was a DJ and vinyl collector, from American hip hop and UK bass to salsa at family parties and reggaeton.
Their style moves between a fast-paced electronic dembow and, more recently, guaracha, which captured their attention thanks to Nico Parga, who inspired them with a fresh and authentic Colombian sound. The result: tracks with a raw, dark undertone, driven by heavy bass, yet always balanced with melodies that reflect the duality of growing up as Colombians in London.
Their new track for La Chekera Records is called “PANTERA”, and that’s exactly what it is: raw, melodic, with a dark edge but full of Latin flavor. To bring it to life, CXLI drew inspiration from their current sound: heavy drums, moody atmospheres, cumbia, and club energy. The main melody was born from a sample they reworked on a sampler, playing it live to give it their own twist, even reversing parts to add variety. They also chopped up a vocal that complements the instrumental perfectly.
I first met them in London, at some events, and the connection was immediate—no words were really needed. Just by dancing, we felt that brotherhood. Today I’m really excited to have them on the label presenting “PANTERA”.
